Body Checking

What is it and how to address it.

Body checking is something that looks different for each person. Body checking leads to one of the driving or maintaining forces behind disordered eating. As we work together we will bring awareness to what these behaviors are and how they are not supporting you in recovery.

These behaviors include the following:

  • Weighing yourself frequently

  • Looking at body in the mirror

  • Measuring various parts of your body

  • Pinching or squeezing parts of your body

  • Looking for fat rolls

  • Looking at past photos of yourself

  • Asking others about how you look

Realization that this behavior is overwhelming and impairing your daily life is how you start healing.
